Fighting the Local Spring Pests

April 21, 2014 Leave a Comment

Termites

Termites are more prevalent during the spring months, causing over $5 billion in property damage a year, but can go completely unnoticed until the damage is already too severe to prevent. It is best to have licensed professionals come out to your home regularly to check for termite damage, and spray a product such as Termidor in order to prevent future termite damage.

Ticks

Certain species of ticks can carry serious illnesses like lyme disease that can be transmitted when a tick bites a person. It is important to take necessary precautions such as checking your skin after being outside to make sure that no ticks are present. In addition, it is also helpful to wear insect repellent with at least 20% DEET.

Raspberry Crazy Ants

The raspberry crazy ants are particularly problematic in Texas, Florida, Mississippi, and Louisiana. They are attracted to electrical appliances, and can cause a lot of problems if left untreated. It is best to contact a licensed professional, since the raspberry crazy ants are a fairly new pest to the area.
