Which Insects Would Use Social Media the Most?

January 27, 2019 Leave a Comment

Do you consider yourself a social butterfly? You might find it interesting that butterflies are actually solitary creatures. If they had access to social media, they’d probably never post selfies and would stay relatively quiet, unless you started picking a fight with another butterfly friend. Then they would stand in solidarity.

Which Insects Would Use Social Media the Most

So which insects would use social media the most? Termites! They are more or less a social type of cockroach. They evolved from ancestral cockroaches, building complex societies that divided the work and coordinated the tasks. While this is incredibly intricate, they are very simple creatures that feed on wood and stay hidden away. If there were a termite version of Facebook, they would be on it.

Ants would likely have their own social network as well. Both ants and termites can be troubling pests to discover in your home, though if you happen to see a termite (perhaps trying to take some selfies), you’re going to find plenty more of them where that one came from. Seeing one ant in your home is less cause for panic, especially if it seems to have accidentally found its way in via your shoe. But more than one signifies there are many others and you’ll have to watch them to see where they are coming from and where they’re going.

Even ickier, cockroaches are social as well, though they are very different from termites and ants. They eat everything and as such, that includes feces. It’s why they’re regarded as dirty insects. They can also adversely affect your health. They produce allergens that can cause allergies and asthma, which affect children the most. While they thrive in filthy conditions, even if your home is clean, they may find their way in when rainfall is plentiful. It’s why you might find them in your Florida home even if you keep a clean house.

Even something as simple as an old newspaper that has fallen behind your washer and gets a bit damp is food to these pests. Plus, they have been around since the days of the dinosaurs and have evolved to resist most of the chemicals out there that you can buy from the store.

But fear not. With Spears Pest Control, we can help you put an end to the insect social networks that are plaguing your home. We know how they socialize and how to put an end to their society gatherings in and around your home. If you have noticed the telltale signs of termites or even spotted one in your home, you have ant piles outside (especially fire ants), trails of ants coming inside, or cockroaches keep coming back no matter how many times you’ve cleaned, give us a call. We’re experienced in clapping back on their social media platforms and will have your home insect-free fast!
