Got pests but also have pets? At Spears Pest Control, we’re a family-owned company that cares about your family. We know that your cat or dog is a part of your family, and we want to ensure their safety when we come to your home for pest control.
Crestview, Florida is a beautiful place but like anywhere in the Sunshine State, we get unwanted visitors in and around our homes. To keep your pets safe and keep pests out of your home, lawn, and garden, we offer the following tips that will protect your furry family members from pest control.
1. Tell us you have pets
When scheduling your pest control service, let us know if you have any pets in your home. Dogs, cats, fish, bird, hamsters, or any other critter should be brought to our attention. We’d love to know where your pets spend their time and where they eat so we can avoid causing them harm.
2. Keep your pets out of the way
Ideally, the best thing you can do is take your pet to a friend or relative’s house during the time we treat your property for pests. Even a day at the groomers might be a good plan and will kill two birds with one stone. But if it’s not possible to get your pet out of the house, set them up in an area that we won’t be treated so they stay safe.
3. Cover pets you can’t move
Some pets like the kind you have in tanks (think fish, turtles, or snakes for example) are more difficult to move. You can cover them with a sheet or towel which will help protect them. Birds, on the other hand, can become very agitated. It’s best to relocate their cages during the pest control treatment.
4. Watch out for pet accessories
All food and water dishes should be sealed away in air-tight containers or zippered bags and stored out of the areas that are being treated for pests. Keep them there until the treatment has dried. This also goes for any toys or bedding.
5. Check with your vet
Still worried? Talk to your vet with any concerns for your pet. They may even be able to board your pet for a few hours until it’s safe to bring them back home.
Not all pest control services will require your entire home to be treated. If you’re not sure what our services entail, we’re happy to answer all your questions. Spears Pest Control is proud to use advanced methods and materials that are safe and environmentally-sensitive to give you the best results.
